When asked if Hake was her victim, Detective Jason Casbon of the Porter Police Department said the charges against Rhiannon Daniel, 25, are not directly related to him.
Hake’s home, in the 1500 block of Old Porter Road, was broken into on June 11, on Tuesday and possibly again between Tuesday and Wednesday.(FUJIFILM FINEPIX F10 battery) Police still are investigating the burglaries and working with Hake to make a list of everything that was stolen, so the incident reports are not yet being made public, Casbon said. No suspects have been arrested.
Meanwhile, according to Daniel’s arrest report, at about 7:25 p.m. Wednesday an employee and the owner of Santiago’s, at 124 Lincoln St., Porter, caught her allegedly stealing items from an apartment above the restaurant. In the confrontation, during which Daniel allegedly pushed the 35-year-old employee onto a bicycle laying on the floor, Daniel called her sister, who called police. (CASIO NP-20 battery)Daniel left in a red Chevy Lumina with a female driver, which was parked behind the restaurant and headed west on U.S. 20 with the stolen property in the back. (SAMSUNG BP70A battery)With the victims following in another vehicle, Daniel got out of the Lumina at the Steel City gas station while the car continued west on the highway with all the stolen property.
The items taken include a camera, printer, DVD player, MP3 player and a video game system.
Other than telling police the vehicle’s driver was a woman from Portage named Vicky, Daniel refused to speak with investigators. (NIKON EN-EL5 battery) Police said the Illinois license plate on the Lumina was registered to a different type of car.
Daniel may yet face false reporting charges for the allegations she made against Hake on June 4.
